I thought it would be cool if I posted the progress so far on my short film, 'Toki and the Hunt'. It is a film about a little runt who finds an unorthodox solution to his problem, but ends up solving some other problems as well.
Toki himself is over a year in the making. Part of it was that I was being lazy, the other part was the previous two story ideas weren't very good. In the original story his role was as a monster in the closet. In the second story (for which he was rebuilt from scratch) he was a solitary guy living on a mountain and being harassed by birds. I didn't like either of the stories and neither did my friends, so I ended up loosing a lot of time working on stuff I wouldn't use later. Now though, I have a good story. It came to me in a moment of inspiration as I was sitting on the toilet... I kid you not, It's as though my best ideas are on that thing. In this new story, he's not alone anymore. Toki is the runt of the village. I'm afraid to say any more than that though. I don't want to spoil the story.
There are 3 main characters and 10 extras. The detail of each character will be judged by how important they are and how much screen time they get. This I don't know for certain yet. I won't skimp on the texturing and modeling, but if a character doesn't need more than one or two emotions and doesn't do anything more than stand or walk in the back ground, then I won't bother making them as articulated as the main characters. This will save time.
Ok, enough talk, on to the pictures!

Thanks guys.
What you see is a good indication of where I am on the project. I have a long ways to go.
Here is a list of character models.
Toki *finished*
Girl
Father
Old hag
Old male /Bellman *in progress*
Little Girl
Little Boy
Fat man
Fat woman
Normal man
Normal woman
Dog
Spoilerman
I'm not modeling people, though the working names refer to men and women, they belong to the same race Toki does... except for Dog and Spoilerman.
Here is Bellman's head so far...
I'm currently working out the details of his body on paper before modeling it. Doing this allows me to work faster and make minor stylistic changes with confidence.

I am aware that the ear penetrates the shoulders, and that he is missing collarbones... other than that, crit away!

Reminds me of the dude from Thundercats
The dumb brutemen (Lion-o) makes fun of them SOO much, it's hilarious.

Hey bro...not sure why this thread hasn't recieved too many comments...I think he's looking great!
You seem to have a good grasp of anatomy, and I can't see any faults in the model. Keep us updated!!

You might have thought that I might have ditched the project by now, but no, it won't stop bugging me until I finish.
The project is now called Rite of Passage
Here is an overall progress shot.
Here are some wip shots.
You might be aware of a clash between the tribal clothing and the architecture of the building, well, don't worry I'll address that. The plot has been overhauled since my last update here, and I feel it is something I definitely want to finish. My completion target is a possibly unrealistic February 2008.
