So Now that i'm learning Zbrush a bit more, and I've had this crazy penchant for examining anatomy, I figure i'd share this half done sculpt that I did last night while I should have been sleeping. Suggestions????

Yeah good stuff Zach! Looking really nice.
The only thing that looks a teeny bit off it his lips, I cant quite know what it is about them though, but everything else looks fantastic. I'd really like to have a play with ZBrush.

Only two things I noticed. First is the missing pirate scar across his eye. Every good sculpt deserves a good scar!
Secondly, his ears seem small for the implied age of his face. He has a real moderately wrinkled, hard-hitting, experienced look about him, yet his ears are real tight and small like a child's. When you age your ears start to look more loose and even slightly saggy in a lot of people.

Awesome sculpt!
My only advice is to look up images of the nasolabial fold. The bottom of the nasolabial fold should blend into the cheek more instead of wrapping around below the mouth...though it looks cool and more dramatic the way you have it!
You might also want to pump up the sternomastoid muscle (or take away around it to make it more prominent) on his neck since he looks like a pretty tough dude. On yours it is very visible from the front, but seems to lose its form a bit from the side view--could just be the lighting though. Great job so far!

AUSOM sculpt Z
I do agree with the crits posted - particularly about the ears, it's almost like there is a conflict of denoted age. I'd have another look at the area under the chin - in the side view it does look a little odd / saggy, like that of a 60+ year old guy (or me...

)
Nice one man.

So I got some time to play around, and learned a bunch more, here's an update. I want to move on to some texturing soon in spite of some of the problem areas. Let me know what you guys think!

Holy darn bro...this thing certainly has come far!!!!
Texture looks SWEET...only comment is that it appears as if there are some blurry areas (especially noticeable in the 3/4 view)....looks like it might just be the jpeg compression though?

Nice! I think I see the big dipper in moles though. Either take a couple out, or make them different, or something.
And I agree with Tyson about the blurry thing, it's like the bump from his scalp just stops all of a sudden.
Is that all hand painted? Or did you use photo's?

Wow... wow! I like the eyes the best! Great wrinkles!
Can you show us the geometry you first started off with before you began adding detail in zbrush?

I agree with the blur too, first thing I noticed. This is really good man, super good. Grats.

wow, really cool zach!
the front view looks perfect, but i agree with the other about the blurriness of some areas on the 3/4. And the shading on the tip of his nose looks odd in the 3/4.
still, great work! and i think Cam has a cut on his lip like that, too! Only Cam's isn't from playing with kittens, it's from cage fighting!

Hey guys, glad you are liking this so far. I worked a bit on it over the weekend, The past week I had been doing a lot of OT, and the previous week my gf came out to visit, so i've been plenty busy. At any rate, here's an update that I thought I had posted the other day. I have done a bunch more on it since then, such as begin to re-topologize the base mesh and get some textures ready, but i'll get into posting that later on in the week or so.
for now, enjoy this little bump.
and here's the current basemesh, because you asked for it.

Top notch!
Im no anatomy physicilillianologist but those knees look aweful pinched and tiny and painful.
apart from that and the fact he could slice bread with those bum cheeks, I think it looks fricken fantastic!
whats that? you're making another 10 of these characters and making a feature film? by next week? sweet

I had a minute here this evening, and while I should have been working on my robot to transform, I did a smidge of texture painting, i'm going to redo it though methinks.
