26 Aug 2007hey guys here is A WIP i started this week just a bit of an acting piece.
I really want to know what you guys think of it and if anything stands out as BAD. I made this for my reel so i want it to be really nice.

there are some sound problems but thats just cause i rendered it out of max with sound hehe. so you can ignore that.

27 Aug 2007the first thing i noticed was the way the lips move in the beginning, and overall. also, his foot seems to be moving really fast in the very start of the animation.

30 Aug 2007ok guys here is a slight update i haven't changed to much, just took out two of the extra "talky" hands as T suggested. I also worked on keeping his expression more constant.
when it comes to the lip sync I'm not really sure where to go i have only done a few in the past and have never really been happy with what i have come up with. I would love any sort of tips or help with that if any one could do so.
I know the basic idea of not showing every little syllable but past that I am kinda on my own to figure it out.

30 Aug 2007Yo man,
I like the update it's coming along nicely. One suggestion I have is to try and hit the body gestures 2-3 frames before the word it's hitting on so the audience has time to see it and match it up mentally with the the dialogue. That's a trick a friend taught me. The same may go for your lip sync, everything seems to be juuuuuust a tad to slow, maybe hit those mouth shapes 1 frame earlier to help it read.
Beyond that I have to agree with Tyson that the shot is reaallllly busy. It's a bit late to change that so I wouldn't worry about it much now, but for the next one just keep in mind not to try and hit too many gestures in too short a time. Unless of course it's Daffy Duck or something similar. =) -
30 Aug 2007ah sweet thanks Jay really nice advice! I went and just moved the audio back a frame or two as a cheap way to go about it and i already see what you mean it make a big difference.
and i will be sure to calm down my next one so he isn't so much all over the place.
Glad you like the update tho i'll work on it some more tomorrow and see what i can come up with.
