hey there guys...
here is an other somthing i am working on at school...
we had to pick an image and reproduce it in 3D.
the concept painting was done by Gary Tonge and Full credits goes to him for it...
his website:
http://www.visionafar.com
his gallery on cgtalk:
http://antifan.cgsociety.org/gallery/
i would have prefered to make my own picture and then produce it in 3d, but the school did not allow me to since the exercise is to reproduce something that we did no make... anyhow...
i have to finish this for december so you'll see all the progress here...
so far, i started bloking stuff out and added a simple light to see what's going on inside the room (done in maya btw)
i chose this picture to be able to work my lighting skills in maya and spend a lot of time on it.

Looks neat man, are you going to model all the little planks and texture everything too are do you only need to reproduce the lighting?

wow, looks great so far, Rich! What a great exercise! I always thought that would make a good challenge - take a photo (I realize yours isn't a photo) and recreate it as accurately as possible.
Gonna be a lot of cool texturing work in this!

i think it was done for a challenge on cgtalk, my teacher last month showed us some of them that looked alot like that hallway. anyways, the blockout looks good, spot on with the camera matching.

This is a nice start. How are you making sure to get the right proportions? Are you modelling on top of a reference image? Must be pretty tough!

i am finished with the modelling,
worked on it for about a day or two i think... (in total)
i am now taking care of the lighting, and then i'll do the texturing, re work the lighting by a noch if it needs to. te i might do a little toshop work or an animaion in it... we'll see..
I just noticed a wood plank is missing in there, i'll take care of that...

wow man, that's great so far. It seems like you're using a longer lens than in the original. I'm willing to bet that you've got a 35 at this point, but if you turned it into like a 24, you might get your look even closer. Give it a try, but if i'm wrong, please forgive me.
