Thanks guys, tonight I made the story reel using the storyboard drawings. I timed each shot by playing the scene in my head. If a shot was too short, I made it longer, if it was too long I shortened it. This was done to get an idea of how long the short would be - and to be a placeholder for the real animation. The short is going to be around 40 seconds long - which was the intent. I didn't want to make it too long because this is going to be my very first completed short film.
Right now, I am furious with myself. I wasted a lot of time so far (about 20 days) on a character not designed for the story. I have learned - the hard way - that the character should be designed after the story, possibly even after the storyboards. I feel like I could have gotten so much further than I am now... but at the same time, I feel like there is little that can stop me from filling this placeholder story reel with content. It's weird being both happy and mad at the same time.
"Well, where is it?" Heh, 35 seconds is easy to ruin for people, so I'm keeping the reel private for now.
