Hey all,
I'm going to use this thread to post models/animation/rigging/whatever in it. Hope you enjoy it

First off is an idea I had for a rig with pieces that telescope out. Check it out!

Hey everyone,
I decided to learn scripting a little while ago and wrote something to do dynamic parenting/space switching for me (my first script!). I recorded a demo of me using the scripts and wanted to show you guys. You can grab it here:

Sorry I used .flv, but nothing else I tried would give me a small sized file. This opens in vlc player or I guess any flash player available.
If you want to see what inspired me, check out Victor Vinyal's rig here:

If people don't like downloading .flv or didn't have a program like vlc player that can play the file, I was able to embed it into a web page, so you can just watch it streaming.

Hey mate...it looked good to me! That's one thing I like about max though...it has it's own built in parent-swapping system...although sometimes it's not the most intuitive, it does the job pretty well.
Nice work on your scripting though...how are you finding XSI?

Thanks man! I like xsi a lot... it seems pretty nice to me. I haven't been able to do a lot of animation in it (so far, I've been focusing more on rigging stuff up). But I plan to start doing some animations in it soon. Right now, I'm just trying to get a few tools together to make my life easier.
This is the first time I've ever tried to script something... I think it's pretty useful to be able to do at least basic stuff in the script editor. In the long run, you can save yourself a lot of work

I would have loved it if xsi had its own parent swapping. Ah well...

I don't really consider myself to be much of a modeller, but every once in a while I give it another shot. hah... this time I decided to take it easy on myself and not include a nose or ears. hah... Anywho, I think it turned out pretty well, so I thought I'd share it. I'm thinking of texturing this up and maybe rigging it. Or I might try making another model. hmmm....
Any constructive crits are appreciated!
Hope you like this!

wow, that's an interesting forehead he has there! looks really unique, have any plans to take him into zbrush?
-

Thanks! I don't have zbrush, so no plans for that.
>interesting forehead
Yeah, I was thinking of that big frill thing that a stegosaurus has, when I was making the forehead. haha... It looks alien, for sure.

the rig thing is very cool will you also do the hole body along with stretching enabled just like your inspiration
-

@mahmoudnahmad
I could setup the stretching... haven't done it though. I've tried animating with stretchy limbs and didn't like it. Maybe later.
I setup a little render of my model. I didn't really texture the head though, just a simple color. I kind of like it though. I think it's about time to start something else!

Thanks for the comments, everyone.
Here's a short test animation I did... it's just a simple jump. It's actually just a jump straight up and down, but I offset the poses so you could see them all! The animation is a little rough, but I'm moving on

hey, looking nice!
lovley little animation you have there, and nice presentation...
looking forward to see what you'll come up with next time!

heeeeeeey, you guys are fast. heh... thanks for the compliments.
Yeah, I realized that it would be confusing to have the images offset like that, but if organized the images straight up like in the animation, then you couldn't see the poses. What to do, what to do..... hahahaha....

looks great, very smooth and not jerky. i'd recommend adding a bit of motion blur to the render tho, it looks weird with none right now.

Here's the animation!
This is a little animation I've wanted to do since Tyson posted his animation tutorial. Thanks to Tyson for the inspiration!!!!
Enjoy!
