I love Hulk, Wolverine, and several other comic book characters, so I figured I'd give Hulk a try.
I started on this last night, working from my human head base mesh I created a while back.
Not sure when it's done if I want to do a game-res model for it, or perhaps do a high-res model, with some SSS shader tests.

13 Apr 2008cool... how about some wire shots and reference (what hulk version are you basing it off of?). have you seen the new hulk (for the upcoming movie)?
just from memory (im not a comic book guy at all), i always felt like hulk's head is more of a stocky square (maybe even shorter on height than on width). -

Jonathan 480 posts13 Apr 2008Well, once I'm happy with the form, I'll try working on some high frequency detail.
When my tax money gets here, I'm going to go from 4gb to 8gb of RAM, so that'll be good for sculpting (and yes, I use XP64, so it can access that much RAM
).
In the last update, his face got a little too 'Melted' so I'm going to go back to the first one, and refine it more, I think.

My laptop runs Zbrush good too (Core 2 Duo, 8400m, 3gb RAM, and Vista, though I wish it was XP!) -

It's the 2.5D/Pixol technology.

Jonathan 480 posts14 Apr 2008Mudbox as many polygons.
Zbrushes works in a quazzi-3d fashion, where as Mudbox pretty much is 3d all the way, so it can't handle that many polygons.
However, it's still an awesome application, and most will not notice that limit. -

Jonathan 480 posts23 Apr 2008Well, good news, apparently my grandfather didn't have another stroke, as the doctors are sorta clueless what was wrong with him, but he had several symptoms of a stroke (he has some issues with arteries/veins, one of which is mostly clogged, so his health is always at risk), but he's home now and happy to be home!
As for Hulk, there are so many "versions" of Hulk it's hard to decide what 100% direction to go, so I'm going through a ton more of reference images. I think my favorite one is the look of this first one, of him facing Wolverine. What do you think?

24 Apr 2008wow his jaw is massive! you might be better off doing the hair inside maya or 3ds max

Jonathan 480 posts24 Apr 2008the neck/jaw will be reshaped after the front is worked on, so his neck doesn't look so weird.
And for hair, I'll probably do some poly hair or spline-->Hair modifier, etc. I just did some sculpting in Zbrush for the time being, to get an idea, as it's weird working on him with no hair. -
24 Apr 2008this is very true. make sure you do a good job on his hair! like in the new hulk film!
