here is a little guy i am making.. when he will be done, he'll be in a pic with the lego dude i made... they'll be together (friends or enemy, don't know yet). who knows ,an animation might come up
.
anyway i, myself can't decide which one looks best...
here is an idea , I will put a pirate hat on him , give him an eye patch then, a normal sailorish setup for the lego man and have them fight...

think you should cocentrate on modelling first...give him a body, maybe a nose...
afterwards you can think about texturing, lighting and rendering...
look at all the great modellers here in this forum (i.e AkinAyman, Tyson,Luima and others),...they don't post rendered images while working on a project, they don't even think of lighting the scene, they just post screenshots of the viewport, cause everythink apart from modelling is just distracting them...
and that's the right way...try to do one step after the other

here is an update, i modeled the ears, nose, cloth betweent the hat/head, and made a prope eye texture

yea i wanted to do that but i still need to work on the collar, then ad creses in that shirt... i also want to do a skull instead of that cylender... basically i am working my way from the top to the bottom.. but anyway, thanks for the comment...

The baggy sleeves look great - Any ideas how you will rig this? I mean, will try to keep the sleeves loose or keep them kind of solid?

well yea thats going to be a problem... i might give a try at rector, see how its doing
but befor i rig hime... i'll finnish the model first then i'll texture him
then i'll try rigging him...
but i don't think it will be easy...

i played around with him nothing changed apart from th beard i gave him

Hmmm...I'm not diggin that beard color....also it would look better as a tuft coming from the end of his chin only....right now the full-facial beard looks a bit weird.

the beard is a bit exagerated and it conceals the detailed contours of the face ..you should give him a slight bit of stubble which will compliment his features without concealing much.
