3d track experiment :D

19 Feb 2006hey guys here is a small 3d tracking experiment that i did. the footage was taken from altavista and tracked in a 3d tracking program the camera information was then imported into max.

i wasnt really paying much attention to the lighting and materials i just wanted to get a good track. -

19 Feb 2006i used icarus version 2.09 . for aynbody that doesnt know what icarus is .. its pftrack before it was bought out by pixel farm.

ant- 73 posts19 Feb 2006i tracked my short in icarus, great app, i was actually very annoyed that it was bought and made commercial, but i have followed the progress the pixel farm and they have really made leaps and bounds. i use pftrack at work, (we have to track the most stupidly difficult footage sometimes)
the geometry tracker is really useful sometimes.
its a pretty good track when you consider that the footage probebly isn't very good to start with. -

22 Feb 2006icarus was always free if im not mistakened but they tore down the site after it got bought out. its still legally available on some sites but you have to really comb through the internet to find it.

ant- 73 posts23 Feb 2006legally?, hmm yes and no, strictly speaking licences have expired, and i dont think you should under be using it really, however just to be on the safe side when i used it, i e-mailed pixel farm, they really didn't care about me using it, and offered me a ?50 student licence of the full pftrack.
i thought 2.11 was the last version actually maybe i imagined it... unfortunitly my pc is dead and buried, i'm yet to recover stuff from the drives, so i cant get it.
if you are thinking of using icarus for comercial reasons i think its a bit dodgy, and a much better alternative is pfhoe! PFtracks little offspring
