Hey man.....Looking nice!!!
Here are some lighting/setup suggestions:
1) The lightbulb hanging above him just looks like a glowing circle......I'd say make a lightbulb object, give it a 100% self-luminous material with a falloff map in the diffuse spot, where in the 2 colors used are white and VERY light yellow. Then add your glow on top of that and it should give you a nice lightbulb look
2) Right now the smoke is very thick , whereas cigarrette smoke is very wispy and light.....just tweak your settings a bit until your smoke doesn't look like smog
3) The shadows in the scene are also very hard right now, and look like RayTraced shadows. I'd suggest either using soft shadows, or just a shadow map with a large approximation radius. Default shadow radius on a regular max shadow is 4....I'd suggest bumping it up anywhere between 12 and 40, depending on the intensity of the lights
4) Maybe think about adding some blue fill lights into your scene lighting as well....in movies/cinema, night shots are often lit with blue lights, and not only that but blue is a complementary color to orange, so it will help to balance the color of your character
