it's almost done, i just need a few more tweaks and fiddling, and meybe some sounds... if i can find any good ones!
This guy is my first human character i ever did... and thanks to the Art of Rigging, i got it rigged ok... still a few bizzar things happening with 2 of the controls, but everything else works... wahoo!!! -

Here's what I'd suggest:
-The angle that the frisbee comes in makes it look like it's travelling really slow....I'd suggest maybe coming in from the left as opposed to it coming in from the viewer's position
-The blind guy's body moves towards the frisbee right before impact...makes it look like he's anticipating it or something
Keep chuggin! Hopefully I'll have my entry up either today or tommorow -

I can see that this transistion to 3D will go quite smoothly for you - a good grounding in 2D is a major advantage. Keep it up bud - I look forward to seeing some updates if you have the time. -
11 Sep 2005Here's a bit of an update.. I don't like the timing of the hit... I think it's too early of a reaction out of him... What do you guys think?? I'll fix it if you say so! Oh, and the frisbee... I wanted it to come in slow.. I thought it would give time to the viewer to think :"awwww man..." i think i'll check it out in another render..

Ok....I'd say the blind man's movement is officially perfect....he possibly "jumps back" a bit too fast when he's hit by the frisbee...but I guess that adds to the comedic value
The speed/angle of the frisbee is also much nicer now.
My only complaint is that some of the animation on guy #2 is still a bit awkward. I haven't done a frame-by-frame scrub to find out exactly where/what is wrong, but upon a regular-speed glance it still looks stiff in some areas. -
12 Sep 2005Yep, it's looking very good mate, no drastic changes in this update (though none were needed really!) but I like the addition of the sign - really nice motion, snappy and cartoony.
I wouldn't worry too much about the reaction as the over exaggerated movements work well - though I think the frisbee could come in a little faster (the guy picking up it up at the end of the shot kinda 'frames' it well... and at that point the viewer does the "Awwww man" that you are after)
