I'll start this thread with a question...
Didn't joint this comp due to lack of time...when i first started with charactermodelling i started following a tut called modelling caveman (just head)...
i never finished it but always wanted to...
so heres my question...am i allowed to use this head i modelled 4 years ago? i don't know if i even have the time to modell a body for him till monday, but i started 20 min ago...(see it to the right)
so if you guys allow me to use this head (has to be corrected anyway) and fit it to a body i'll modell this weekend, i consider myself into this comp, else...just delete this thread and i'll be very pleased to follow this comp as just a spectator...
your thoughts???
btw: really nice feature, cam, to upload pics (saves so much time) -
02 Oct 2005Hmmm....well.....I'll say this........for the sake of us wanting as many entries as possible (since having more entries in a competition makes it much more fun/challenging).....if you can model the rest of the body by the deadline then I think it's fine if you keep the head you already have modelled.....unless there are other users that disagree.....
So speak now or forever hold your peace!

see, since i want to join this comp for learning not for winning i'd suggest, that you let me take part not as a competitor but as participant without voting my entry (only for the modellingpart of this comp) (although i would love to have a free divX licence)
how about that, tyson? the other participants...any opinions?

you might have realized, that i didn't get to finish this one. sorry for that.
had to bring my son to the hospital with appendicitis this weekend.
so i thought it was better to stay there.(he's fine now )
anyway, to late for the modelling part but might be ready to use him for the rest of the pc-comp.
wanted to combine the head with a very athletic, nice defined human body
caveman is far from finished but i wanted to show you my progress if anybody is interested.
(feet are still out of scale and lots of refinement to do)
congrats to everybody who was able finish in time

And yes, you're welcome to continue in the challenge with your model
Here are some comments:
-toes are a bit flat
-theres some weird creasing in his calve muscles
-his back muscles are a little square
-his pectorals should extend right into his delts
-theres a weird crease in the back of his neck
Otherwise...looking good! -

your right with everything, the crease on his neck is because the head is not attached yet.
he's still very rough but will be refined this week...hope so
