I'm trying a bunch of new stuff with this one.. since it's a little more simlpe than the last 5 or 6 month long challenge

16 Feb 2006Ok... so, for my mini-challenge resolution, I promised myself to put up wip's
Here' what I came up with today... like I said, I tried a bunch of new things... blendshapes with bones, and the Hypershade...
I'm still not quite happy with it, the arcs bug me... but I have a week, right and the ball's rotation, I'll have to make that work... it did work, but now it doesn't... I guess that means more tinkering!

16 Feb 2006what do i think ? ...i think its BRILLIANT ! lol. i love the motion you have in your animations. they have a rich cartoon like style . very impressive work so far. cant wait to see where you go with this . btw what are you using blendshapes for :S ?

I used blendshapes paired to the handle I made for the squash and stretchy. I just wanted a more "accurate" deformation so to speak.. when the handle squashed down, it inflates the sphere instread of just squashing it straight... that way I thought I could keep the volumes better. Same with when you pull the handle, there's a stretched blendshape. And the final pose when he peels out (or supposed to peel out) is a new shape that I added in there.
If that all makes sense, that's why I used blendshapes -
17 Feb 2006Here's a tiny little bunch of changes... I don't know if they're for the better, but either way, I gave more distance on a few bounces, and I added a small rotation or the actual ball.

i really like this, its got great timing.
my only issue is with the wind up before the take off to the right of the screen, im not sure if its the checkerpattern but its just feels too abrupt going into the spin.. maybe ease in a little more
