04 May 2006i'm doing sound #1, and just came up with my idea last night! i may start bringing laptop to work to do it, cuz it's quite ambitious for both my skills and the short time period we have!
i'm imagining this is a WIP contest, right? here we are, 1/4 of the way into this challenge, and no one's posted anything yet!

06 May 2006ok, i'm well under way. modelling is almost done, i've only rigged the neccessary things, and tomorrow i'm gonna start animating and modelling the remaining things. here's 2 screen shots!

this was a fun one! absolutely loved it!
this was actually the first time i ever designed a shot around the sound, rather than making the sound fit the video.
can't wait to see everyone elses!!! -

i think the sound matches perfectly...maybe the last "klick" is to strong for the ring,
but the sync is perfect...

11 May 2006inspired by Goul (and the thread about "things should be high quality"), i am hoping that i'm not done yet. i'm gonna try to get some nice textures in mine, better sparks, some more detailed modelling, and, if i have time, i'll tweak the animation a little.
i don't want to be deleted for making n00b work!

11 May 2006Ha ha ha!!!! That was awsome man!!! I really didnt expect that, poor little guy, how gutted would you be if that happened to you when you opened a door?!
Really good animation, the sound fit in very nicely me think, maybe the ring landing is the only thing that's not 100% to the sound, but excellent work man!!

i just spent some time browsing around cgtalk, which i don't go to very often.
i will DEFINITELY be upping the quality of my little animation.
so i'm not done yet! if it kills me, it will be better!! -
11 May 2006Yeah..You already have a cool little animations, just give it few hours of works more to make it REALLY cool)
I think for exemple you should add few details ( part of the robot in the explosion, cables on the walls, maybe a poster wich show us why this little robot is destroy, etc.. ) and maybe a background (few primitives with dof could be enough, but it need something )

and there it is, my final. i textured everything with custom painted textures, and did a more natural camera move. little DOF never hurt, either!
this was great! lots of firsts for me on this - first sound syncing, first use of DOF, learned how to make particles lay flat when they hit (thanks to tyson's tutorial), used that cool Trails particle plug-in for the first time...
there's probably more i can't think of.
oh, and if you don't like this one, feel free to judge me on the 1st version i posted! (just kidding!)
