22 Jul 2006Hi, I'm Bob Bonkers and this is one of a bunch of clips I'm doing for an ongoing project of mine.
It's set in a comedy club and features a talking willy
so don't say I didn't warn you
It's quite big, 11mb and you might need the latest divx codec to view it.

22 Jul 2006Hey mate, its a very well done clip. It looked whole, and nicely completed.
Couple of things bugged me about it though, the lip syncing was good but the secondary facial movements generated by the mouth moving were non existent. Maybe it's just because of the type of mouth you gave it, but I thought there should have been at least a little amount of the disformation in the areas surrounding it as he talked.
The other main problem, is his animation was a little stuff (pun not really intended), especially noticeable as he leans on the microphone stand, his movements are kind of jagged. Not bad, by all means but they did seam a bit forced.
also, if it's not said enough, you're a feckin weirdo.

22 Jul 2006Yeah, the thing is I give myself 4 days for each clip, so theres only one pass for animation and lip sink, actually that model has only 3 morph targets for speech, open,wide and purse.
I guess I'm relying on the fact your average football fan will be too drunk to notice.
Wierd? yeah I spose

I didn't like The Goonies does this mean I should let it bias my opinion of your whole animation.

mechis 520 posts22 Jul 2006Lip sync-- I'd say that the main problem is that your mouth design doesn't allow you to have much expression. Also, as you said earlier, you only have a few mouth shapes to work with.... which makes things hard as well.
Body motion- whenever your character is moving, it seems to be at a constant/drifting speed. There's no feeling of energy to the motions. It would help a lot if you held some of the poses longer and tightened up the timing a bit.

I think it would be nice to put a couple of cuts in there, (god dick jokes are easy.) Just to break it up rather than one long shot. (and another) that could help "drive the punches home" Im done.

22 Jul 2006Yeah Mechis,I see that now.
Looking at it now I just think it's a badly designed character,If it had eyes you could do a lot more with it.
Also one hand is tied up with the mike while he talks and that doesnt help.
As far as the animation goes I know I can do better but I'm severly pressed for time,the footballseason starts in 4 weeks and I know they wont notice anything apart from a talking dick and all the other genitals.
I supose the trick is to do it right on the first pass, and I never done that yet.
