23 Aug 2005This is a quick test render of my WIP car.
Its nowhere near finished and has 1000's of mistakes - I'll be posting more and more progress pics as i go.
(Sorry for low res and low quality - i dont have the time to render out full yet)
Anyway, comments and suggestions are very much appreciated

24 Aug 2005I agree: from what I can see the model looks great, only the render doesn't show it.
Add some GI, maybe lose the raytraced shadow (or combine the two), add some color! It looks like it's black and white now.
Maybe make the front lips and spoiler of carbon and make the wheels a little shinier (not chrome!!!).
Nice design though, you have some renders from other angles? -
24 Aug 2005Yep - thanks, those are some cool ideas - More angles are coming up.
The materials are pretty much basic - untweaked - I originally had the rims with blurry reflections - but obviously would have taken
's of time to render so...
When I am near finishing it, you'll see better renders - in fact this you might see some this weekend
Your opinions: What kind of colours do you think would look on this car? - I chose black because i wanted hte wheels to stand out, but what colours do you think look best?
BTW that wing sucks now that i look at it ! -
24 Aug 2005Well black is the perfect color for a car, if you ask me.
Just needs some contrast, for instance some indicator lights inside the headlights.
Are you using Brazil? If so then indeed some blurry reflections on the wheels would be nice.
Here's a magic tip that saves loads of render time: put the Max Error in the Adaptive Samplive thingie of the Glossiness Reflection Control of your Brazil Advanced material to 0.15 or 0.2 in stead of the 0.01.
I personally don't really like the roof air scoop, but that is more a designwise comment. Nissan doesn't do rallying... but then again, I suppose this is a streetracer, so I guess it's allowed.

24 Aug 2005Unfortunately, i'm not using Brazil - I'm using Final Render.
The AA pass takes so long as it is, and even with the Adaptive MR Sampler set to 100% (meaning very low detail) It still just takes a long time to render - because of the polys involved (Last time i checked there was about 500k polys without smoothing - i dont want to think about how many after smoothing
Anyway, The Front CF plates and the huge baby-scooper at the front I think i'll dump. And yes, that roof scoop has to go lol!

I dont like the back - i dont know why but I dont like it!

Complaints:
-Your car shader could use a bit brighter reflections
-The chrome material on your front headlight looks a bit weird, and the chrome on the rims is also a bit too solid in color.
