Hi Sorry for the late reply...
Crystals... Easy.
Use Vray 1.5 Blend Material, create a simple glass material, (reflect refract param changes etc) then create another standard material inside the blend material. Change the filter colour to somthing mid range.. what this does is the denser the number of low opacity objects, the brighter the material gets. So as you can see the middle of the crystal is due to the overlapping and filter processing of the material. btw.. standard material is 20% opacity, light blue. I also had 3 vray lights in the scene.
The most important note that I need to give you is that the crystals were made with the background present... You simply cannot just take the settings and expect the same result.. this is a lesson I learnt long ago.
So, if you want something similar... put in a brown background or something.
Also... I created a selection set of the rendered crystals and applied ocean distort to the ground image... that way the crytals "blend in". It kinda looked cool with the distort encompassing the crystals like a "haze" but I was trying to not distract the viewer too much from the hydralisk... although I failed there too
Anyway I have a much better WIP on its way so I hope you guys are still interested.
ciao!
