As promised, here's the holiday spot we did here at MAKE for home depot's holiday website (http://www.thddecorations.com).
Zach Mandt, Aaron Quist, Danny Robashkin, Andrew Chesworth and myself were the ones worked on it.
Models were done in Maya. Animation, texturing, lighting, rendering was done in max.

vushvush 2 posts11 Nov 2006This is Danny from MAKE, and you guys need to know that these guys absolutely kicked ass on this thing. You really need to frame by frame in order to see how much went into this piece!
The end result is way better than anyone would have expected, and hopefully you guys like it too. -
TheOnlyAaron 188 posts11 Nov 2006Hey Tyson, as i said last night this is a great piece and you really should be be proud, especially in the time constraints that you had.
I really like seeing the Quick Time, because that flash compression really limits you from seeing all of the great work that went into this.
I love the snowman that is crossing the street, what a nice touch! Top quality work Tyson, and the rest of you at Make! -

Kinda makes me miss the winter weather (it's about 33 degrees right now)
Start to finish, how long did you guys have on this? -
11 Nov 2006If i'm not mistaken, the whole thing from start to finish took about a month and a half, Tyson or whoever correct me if i'm wrong. But we had to make a ton of stuff for the site itself. I remember modelling around fifty different things or so for just the interiors, and we had to do a bunch of stuff for the exteriors and what not. Overall, I feel proud about making everything on the site in under a couple months.

11 Nov 2006Yea....designing all of the assets for the site, including the decoration pages (if you go to the site you can see that you can "decorate" 3 fully furnished CG interiors, and 4 CG exteriors with Christmas items) took about a month and a half.
The intro animation itself though, took about 2.5 weeks. -
11 Nov 2006really nice stuff! I really liked the lighting and the mood you guys captured - kinda felt like those old Rudolph stop-motion holiday specials!
nice to see all the stuff you've been writing in Max, too, tyson! the secondary motion, the LOD thing, etc... and really nice work on the snow particles and clouds, too.
really great work!! i've come to expect nothing less! -

09 Dec 2006Hi Tyson, sorry for not replying anymore to your posts. I mean I see it everytime and thinking the same stuff, awesame work, would love to this quality by myself.
So keep up the good work, and get me really impressed in the future. And dont forget if you want to have a good story for your shortfilms please dont hesitate to ask, also you have not finished reading Chronicles of the Damned, as you may remind i send you the first episode a long time ago
