Fridge anim - Finished [update]

09 Jan 2007here we go i am done... in total, i think i spent 3 days to do the whole thing... there is looooads of errors that i would love to fix, but hey, i did not sleep this night cause i have to hand it in this afternoon, put it that way, yesterday, i had only 5 seconds, over the night i did a minute...
i will most likely fix as much as i can and reedo most of it with more time, cause i am pretty shure i can do better with an extra week
anyway, here it is, it's a minute long and it's about 11mb i think, or 7...
crits a more than welcome

ps, if i'd be you, i would save it and watch it in full screen, cause when it is in a web page, with all that white around it, you can't see much at some parts...
ps, ps, this is my first long anim thant involves modeling, texturing lighting, animating, story boarding, concept, compositing, rendering (etc...). I've done everything there

bzudo 151 posts09 Jan 2007nice job accomplishing all of that in one night. i really like the cut between the door opening and the eggs. nice camera movement.
my only crit would be that the fridge is too clean and could use more clutter. in the beginning its a little dark. other than that it was good. -

After some of my attempts to do the whole story boarding, modeling, animating, rendering, compositing, i find it VERY difficult thing to do, so once again, great work man! -
09 Jan 2007Hey Rich! Good to see you finally finished this!
Its a really powerful piece, the music goes really really well with it. The atmosphere is really great, i love the shot of the fridge from the bottom up when the fridge opens, and the light nearly blows out the screen, very well made man.
The concept is really sweet as well, the igloo looks great up there, well done Rich.
My only comments would be that inside the fridge is too clean, try and put some more food in there maybe, and really dirty up the textures. Have some ice on the inside of the walls, with some nice highlights. The eggs looks all the same, try and make a nice spec map for them, it'll really add to the realism.
Other than that, excellent piece Rich. -

I really enjoyed the transitions, both into and out of the fridge. that is classy stuff. I agree the kitchen / fridge was too clean, and that would be something to keep in mind in the future. I really liked the igloo, and felt connected to it, the little warmth in the cold. Although instead of the light being imeadeatly doused, perhaps having some flicker, or fade would have been nice.
All around great piece and the music fit the pace and editing well, nice job. -

17 Jan 2007FINISHED, yay, i did some updates, and thats me done, i might re-render the kitchen shots, cause the shadows are really low rez but here it is... oh, and of course, crits are always welcome...

17 Jan 2007really really cool richard. i love the ending, it feels so peaceful. the snow particles at the end are extremely well done too, good show!

I really love the feeling of this clip...sooo quiete
My only crits came from the fridge lighting... Mayabe some light blue, or other colder tones should be better thant this pure white . The actual one is really realistic, but maybe, a more fantastic/magic approach could be better to this clip.. Something to test
I also suggest you to put a bit of dof in the fridge shots..
It's only few details, but it's this kind of details wich make the difference between a great work, and a fantatstic one -
17 Jan 2007I really like it man, excellent job.
My olny crit, and im just nitpicking here, is that it cuts into and out of the sequence, maybe have it fade in and out of the whole thing, to me personaly that would be better. Other than that I think it really great and powerful, i really like the snow.

17 Jan 2007wow, so many nice words and a plug! thx guys, this really cheered me up and almost makes me feel guilty for not having much time anymore to come over... well, i'm back on the road, starting this afternoon showing you what i did this term while i was away...
iest, i tryed, though it removes the somwhat of rithm it has, and if you notice, the cuts are alway anlong with a piano note in the music (or a noticable sound)
goul, i'll try and see if i can come up with a little fantasy somthing, i tried a bit las night, and i got pretty cool results with yellow instaed of blue, anyway, somthing i'll keep in mind here. as for the dof, i totaly forgot how to do that, i'll look into it again
bzudo, what does clutter mean? and the snow is made in max, pretty simple effect to do, i could give you details about it if you wish

for a moment i wished that it never stops.

18 Jan 2007i can't seem to watch it at work, dang it! i download it and try to play it in firefox, but it always stops halfway through! Looks great so far, but i didn't want to post until after i saw the whole thing. so, for now, all i'll say is my love for Linux grows smaller by the day (and I had none to begin with!)

hell, put a real refridgerator logo on there and try and sell it as a spec commercial to a fridge company! -
