3D Still + Animation

Howdy!
This is my latest. A potential client here at work wanted to know if we could "animate a hand"...so....given that much, here's what I came up with
Everything is mine except for the model...that's a 3d scan.
I did the texturing/rigging on Tuesday....did the animation yesterday and the compositing today. The project would have taken considerably less time had a power failure not shorted out my computer yesterday ....luckily we were able to get my computer back up and running today so I was able to finish this thing

I didn't have time to add in any secondary characters/elements (ie...the thing(s) that are chasing him)....but yeah...he's definitely being chased
As for the camera "tracking".....it's actually just a still frame with some camera motion added in After Fx....so I didn't have to go out of my way and do anything extraordinary in that regard.
Anywho....I'l possibly going to be making some changes soon...so I'll post the update if I do anything noticeable.

The shake on the hand is done completely procedurally...using the "noise position and noise rotation" controllers. -

The "texture" is a mix of a diffuse map and hairfx (along with some fake SSS and self-illumination etc) -
g3org3 355 posts24 Sep 2005I will have to say im scared because A few days i was thinking about a hand being animated that I would like to do sometime after awhile but then in business class today when we were doing a case study i was bored so i started moving my hand around the desk observing the movements. So i wa s going to come home and post that in the 'idea collective' but it looks like you already did it. -
g3org3 355 posts24 Sep 2005Alright I just saw it and I have to say it looks pretty damned good. Although when i was looking at it closer when it was running it basically was running on its fingertips. When i was observing my hand i would assume the very top knuckle(closest to tip of finger) bends a bit inward (toward to palm a bit) this way you also get more force from the push and more friction. So the hand would run faster and if it is running away it would probaly need that. Especially on the materials he is running on which would produce very little friction(well i think). Also for the hair, shouldn't the other part of his fingers have a bit have hair? It looks somewhat out of place.

Toned down the hairyness of the hand....fixed up some of the animation on hand #1, and added in hand #2
