Here is the first render. I'll work again on the table, the reflection isn't really realist.
I'm doing another render this night, hope to have something to share tomorrow.

i like the grey render better

the reflections should have falloff.
-
Weider 281 posts
Yes, I made another render this night with a little bit of green in the scene, look better I think. And the reflection will be more falloff, I didn't know how to use U&V Roughness.
If you prefer the grey (untextured) version, it's because the materials need tweaking as the light is the same. It's on what I'll work now.

Here is the update, I like it more in green I think. Still a bit grainy, I made the render at 1280X700 during maybe 9hours.

BColbourn 2,323 posts
looks much better, but still needs more rneder time
-
Weider 281 posts
lol yes. You know if it's possible to start a render and finish it later. I heard it's possible, not sure.

Hey man...I really like how the last pic is coming along!

looks good to me. the only thing i dont like is the reflective floor - a bit too much in my opinion. the poor fella who who cleaned that room did a hell of a job

its not that noticeable in the latest picture, expect the green reflection but in you first picture its way too much for me.

what is the advantage of maxwell? man u r getting 9 hours per frame rendering.
i know it can do better photorealistic rendering!!
but i can;t see the point if u want to render 100 frames of walkthrough animation?...
is there something u save ur photon maps so there won;t be that much render time for next frames.
btw ur image looks just gr8.
really photorealistic quality.

Thanks for all replies!
jigu: for the moment, I wouldn't really recommend Maxwell if you're doing a professionnal architecture visualisation and need to make the project in 1 week. It's still beta, the old version took 3x more times to render!
Maxwell is based on the physic of real light, so it's not really the same method than VRay, Brazil, etc.
For the moment, it's still slow, but really easy to work with. I just wanted to start using it at it's beginnig.
Anyway, I received my new Hard drive for my laptop, need to install everything again, then I'll work again on the scene, experiment how to make a better lightning to make the scene a bit more "alive"

Update:
It's called a flashlight style.
(the shader on the fridge looks strange, will see what cause that)
-

Wow...that last one looks near photographic! (minus the weird fridge and all the grain)
keep pumping these out man...it's cool to see the different features of maxwell (remember to post your rendertimes too!)
-
BColbourn 2,323 posts
i've tried that flashlight style before but couldnt get it, do you jsut put the lgiht almsoty directly behind the camera?
-
Weider 281 posts
What you have to do is make a simple plane (the emitter) and move it near the camera (as a real flash), then you adjust the intensity (I chose D65 and 300W). Instead of uncheck Physical sky, I changed the time to 20h and it'S done.
I'll make 2 new renders:
- a standard night scene with lights switch on (no flashlight style).
- a bit daylight scene with more yellow, and with a warmer light
( I'll make the night render tonight)
About Render time, heheh it's long. I usually make 2 renders by day.
-I start one before go to the bed ans stop it before go to work, so 9-10hours
-I start a new ony before go to work and stop it when I come back at 5pm
Just looking forward to see Maxwell 30xtimes faster

if you adjusted the noise levels and the fridge quite frankly i wouldnt have figured it was cg lol. nice work whats the render time on this new update?
-
Weider 281 posts
I think I started it before going to the bed, but I didn't stop it when I woke up, so maybe 15h or something like that.
I'll take a look if I can add Frame Stamp in Maxwell.
About the firdge it's strange, don't know the problem, maybe I'll chose another material for it (by example Maxwell Plastic) , or play with the 2 settings for aluminium presets.
-
BColbourn 2,323 posts
render it for like 72 hours
-
Weider 281 posts
hahahahah I just wondering why people render maxwell scene in big resolution, like 3000X3000. I think it's more easy then to get rid of the noise as the size of each noise pixels is the same on a 320X240 or a 3200X2400. So if you do a big render and scale it smaller, you'll have something with less noise. I'll take a look on this.
And about the stamps, this isn't possible in Maxwell, I'll make a stamps layer on photoshop to add on next renders.

Wow, that's really cool, get job on modeling, layout and composition man! I'm not sure I like the green as much, I'd kind of like to see them more blue to compliment the wood better, but it's looking fantastic as is.

Here is another test. This one is a "standard night scene". Not really the most realist, but anyway.

Dude that seriously rocks i love all the renders with/wo grain. Absolutely superb, maxwell can really kick out some amazing stuff.
-
Weider 281 posts
Another one, less noisy. the trick to render is 2x bigger and then change the size in photoshop is just great. You'll have a better render and faster if you would wait until noise free.
-
N2ChristTheKing 22 posts
That one's looking superb! By far your best yet, the only thing I don't like is the straight lines on the ceiling, maybe try to break up the texture a little more into different length planks or something along those lines.

looks good now add like a sunrise in the windows and it will set the atmosphere perfectly.
