This is my first attempt at character animation. At the time, I didn't know how to rig a character so I went with the whole ball and joint method. Since then I've built a full rig and I'm working on a new animation. Any comments would be helpful.
That's not a bad start for a first attempt. There are some nice gestures there. If you're serious about anim I'd have a look at the principles of animation (do a google) to get a good idea of what it's all about. I'd also try out some basic exercises too to get a real sense of weight and timing etc.
I think global is right about your animation....you've definitely got a good sense of poses, but what you're lacking is truly the main principles of animation (primarily overlap)...right now your animation comes across as very stiff.
In my opinion, I would begin doing exercizes with simpler characters (bouncing ball, ball with legs etc) at the moment....get the animatino down-pat and then move on to dialogue clips.
