Check out the reign of fire dvd, in special features it shows how they animated things and it shows a tiny clip of a dragon, and some effects edits.

Dude thats awsome, 1 crit though, the dragon seems a bit fat or out of proportion when the muscles are on, i dunno if its just me.
Excelent work though!!!

if dragons ever existed they prob. were fat. i mean look at all the lizards. they got huge bellies.

Hi guys, today we started to make the dragon's skin, thrischan is modeling the legs and tail, and I am doing the upper body. This is what I get so far:
comments or critiques are welcome
thank you!

Coming along nicely.
Are you using MetaReyes?
It seems to be a fat dino, but the muscles and ribs and such are overly defined, kind of contradictory.

this is really good work , such great attention to everything, it is as visualy stunning as drangons are dead.. thats Verrry
Really good job

Thank you!
Cameron: No we are not using any plugin... til now. And yes it is supossed to be a robust dragon, most of its volume is actually muscles, not fat. But maybe I?ll make a more relaxed version, just for testing.
regards!

Hi, yesterday was a busy day, so, I didn?t have time work on the dragon

but I modeled the wings today, this is the first result:
And also attached the leg to the torso
-----
Here are some explanations about our workflow:
We decided to build bones and muscles for 2 reasons: help us modeling the skin and use them to deform the mesh via skinwrap on an animation phase.
However our first goal is to achieve a good still image.
Once we finish the modeling and texturing, will make a simple rig to deform the dragon into the desired pose, and then tweak the mesh for finer details; so we?re not worrying too much about how the muscles will be deforming the mesh later.
But the idea is to apply dynamics on them and use them as deforming objs.

Just jumped in this thread and all I can say is AWSOME!
love the muscle and details. Exactly how did you do the muscle and the skinning? is all just manual polymodeling or did you use some "trick" to get he skin to deform along the muscles?

Hi! Here is an update of our work. Now the muscles are more relaxed. The horn crown, the eyes and mouth (inside and outside) were worked a little.
I think we just have left the teeth, besides that, that?s all the modeling work!, now unwrap, and zbrush,... this is gonna be fun!

Ahhh this guy looks so good!
My only comment is that his eyebrow looks a bit too separated from his head....hmmm...maybe add some muscle striations to make them look a bit more natural.
Other than that....great work!!!

I'd really love to see both of them realised.
This project is crazy good!

here is another one, I think we're going for a picture after the chaos, and without people. I dont like the pose, I will work it for a more natural one.
