10 May 2007well after effects recognizes the z-depth with out anytrouble... u just have to go to effects--> 3d channel --> depth of field!
as for the velocity channel! I think you need a plugin for it!
well this thing started out as a test... but i had to leave it as a WIP cuz i got busy with other stuff... hopefully i'll get some time to go back and improve upon it and esp the background

10 May 2007i think you can use this with velocity channels.
its a Cycore plugin, and ships with AE, so everyone should have it. -
10 May 2007oh, and thats a cool animation! I really dig it! I kinda like the black, it makes it feel like the cell is floating in a void.

10 May 2007Good looking stuff man. If you are interested in micromolecular/anatonmical animation, then check out these guys. They are based in Minnesota, USA, but they are one of the top medical animation studios around.
Some of the stuff they have done is just plain beautiful. If I ever end up back in Minnesota, (god forbid) I would love to work with these guys. Super cool work though.

@Jayg : Yeah the deformation helps a lot to give the floating feel... actually everything in there is deforming but they are all suttle as compared to the red ones.
@zachm : yeah for a while I was really interested in micromolecular / anatonmical animations..... thanks for the link... I checked out their stuff.... very interesting
