Hi, this is an Meindbender test animation.
The goal was to get the same kind of feel that stopmotion has with Maya.

15 Jun 2007I commented over at cgtalk already, but I'll comment here as well.
This animation blew me away! Freaking amazing and inspiring...I have no idea how you did any of those crazy transitions....would love to see the animated wireframe of the whole scene so I could frame-by-frame though it.
I'm busy at the moment, but tommorow I'll plug this on the frontpage

15 Jun 2007holy crap! yeah, i totally agree with tyson - those character changes were insane!! if you had stop motion animated that with some clay, i could understand, but a rigged chacter?!?!?! awesome!! great work!

for some reason. I think it's the overall feel of silliness. I love it though man, clawing my face for more! I agree that you need to devulge the secrets of the stop motion cg look!

16 Jun 2007Oh very nicely done indeed!
There are a couple of points where the 'stop motion' feel is lost, like when he lifts his head up and looks to camera, a little too much of a fluidl bounce in the movement. But a damn fine animation though! Looks like a major technical challange too.
I second Z 's request that yo devulge your secrets!
Z, you hold him down, I'll get the truth serum... T can hold the bright light on his face... oh, and Cam can erm... make funny hand shapes and shadow puppets in the bright light!

there's really no secret here just a simple rigg och tons of blendshapes (morf targets) and other deformers.
this is one of the characters in a TV serie for kids that we want to produce in the future, we can't ofcourse animate like this (making blandshapes for every frame) so we are looking for talanted riggers that can make a rigg where u can do this kind of animation. -
