did this in max over the past little while to teach myself texturing and such. I'd always intended to have depth of field blurring on the hand but didn't have the resources to render it, so i did it in photoshop. any and all feedback would be much appreciated.

Rusting is a bit inconsistant on the left shoulder there, he also maybe a bit too matte. The eye is really good though.
As for the pose, whats the hand doin?

well the story behind the scene is that this really is the last man on earth. the only human part of hi left is the eye, and of course, the brain.
its actually a little hard to explain in short, because this goes a long with a much bigger story, but he is reaching for a light switch. the turning off of the light though, is metaphor for his suicide.

Hey nux,
Nice piece! The eye looks superb! Perfect amount of contrast and shadow, while maintaining the intense highlight.
As for the body, well I have to admit I agree with some of the other comments. Would be nice to maybe match up the rust a bit more....alse, right now your rust is pretty gradiated (ie...the rust on the shoulder), wheras I think rust is more of a black/white thing (ie...no blending)
My other suggestion would be to maybe go in and add all sorts of wires/mechanisms etc all over him. Right now he looks like a robot that was designed with aesthetics in mind...whereas I'd imagine the last man on earth to be a mish-mash of junk (ie...in his last ditch effort to keep himself alive, he doesn't care about how his "body" looks).
