Squirrel Retaliation: Training!

This is another squirrel animation I worked on during summer break. I entered into my school's animation festival, in which it was shown as a finalist.

But he's basically training to become stronger to kill the man who ran over his parents...will he pass the training?
Production Time: 2 months.
Software: 3D Studio Max 9.
File Size : 32.4 mb
Sorry the file is fairly big, I had to compress it down from an HD res. Anyway, hope you enjoy, there are a few things I still want to go back and touch up, but for now this is where it's at while I focus on other projects.

How much influence did you take from Naruto with the training Dummy? It reminds me a lot of the Sand Puppets and with the Sasori fight having gone on for months now it would make sense. Such an awesome idea...this came out really nice! -

Haha yeah I will admit I did get a few ideas from that show, but crazy puppets with arrows and knives etc is just fun to animate

) I definitely learned ALOT about compositing and rendering from this project in regards to what to do and not do in the future .
And that fur is difficult to get right the first time... -
02 Sep 2007Nicely done man, I think the camera work is great in this. It could stand to be tightened up a bit imo, Overall it's quite the accomplishment to complete that much animation.

02 Sep 2007Agree with Z... I think some of the camera work was great, but some of the shots ddn't really read so well, this is also partly to dohe timing between cuts too, like in the final shot I think the guy bounces around just a little too long.
Nice though, that opening shot when we first see the ninja squirrel is awsome -
