bgoreta1 3 posts28 Nov 2005I did this bear for a mascot competition for the FIS wolrd cup in Zagreb last winter. I didn't win the competition so I figured I'd at least share it on this forum. This is one of maybe ten versions I did. I was so into my work that I didn't realize that mascots have to be simple so that people can remeber them easily. My bear with all this fur and details was a bit of an overhead for the purpose of mascot. Anyway, at least I learned something. Cheers !

First of all...welcome to the forums!
Second, the image looks great! The character is very lovable
My only crit is that the scene lacks dark shading in all the nooks and crannys. I'm talking under the feet...under the hat...under the arms etc.
An ambient occlusion pass multiplied over this pass would really help the image.
But very cool nonetheless! Looking forward to seeing more work from you -

ps: how could they NOT choose this cuddly guy as thier mascot!?! he rocks!!! -
bgoreta1 3 posts28 Nov 2005Thanks. I did the fur using Sasquatch. Everything else is Lightwave. You are right about the image lacking darker areas. The fur had too much translucency on it so it received the light in that way. I don't have the time to fix it now but here are couple of more images of him.
