20 Dec 2005here is a render of the robot i am making for the movie contest
i did not used photoshop yet...
what do you think, what could i improve?

20 Dec 2005i am using mental ray because i dont know how to do that scene properly with skyline
i need help for he depth of feild caus its bad cuality -
20 Dec 2005I found the DOF of mental ray difficult to manage and slow to render on an animation, and i prefer add DOF in post prod (by using for exemple z-depth or .rpf files)
You should try this
For your robot, i suggest you to improve shaders, maybe add maps (mapping will be fast and easy because your model is simple, just use this as an advantage to put goods maps on it
)
You should refine the mouth area, i think it will be a problem at the animation to see through him when he open his mouth

21 Dec 2005i tryed but i got a compleet black render... do i still need to use the cam dof
also, how would i aply it to the image in photoshop... -

21 Dec 2005i think what he meant was to get it in photoshop copy it on to a new layer so you have to of them then appply a mask to the one on top paste the inverted zdepth mask in there and then apply a gaussian blue on the image.
i dont know how well that will work . -

mr_killer> you're nearly done
-just select the zdepth(layer 1) then do a ctrl-A to select all
-do a ctrl-c to copy it
-select now the background image with the mask you've created
-go to the channels rollout, desactivate the RGB, Red,Green,Blue channels, select the last channel wich should be the mask you've created
as this :
-do a ctrl-v to paste the zdepth into it
-Reactivates all channels, comme back to the layers and add blur
-enjoy -

22 Dec 2005when i say sliders, it could also be some kinf of controller made with 2 shapes...

22 Dec 2005i found out about the sliders and its working fine but the problem is that i need two of them for each eye
i decided to try with box with a circle inside but it is way to sensible...
1st how could i block the circle in the rectangle
2nd you could i make it less sensible (e.g.: when i move the circle of one milimiters, the eyelid rotates of 280 degrees)

you can also call them things "nuts" (nuts and bolts)
well he is gonna have one in his hand and he'll say: "what? you think you are better than me, cause you got both your nuts"
