Hey guys!
A few weeks ago I made a 30-second PSA for a national contest focused on disaster relief. Now, it looks like I'm one of only five finalists in the country! The grand prize winner gets $12,000 - and it depends entirely on the popular vote. I need as much help as I can get!!
I just put together a brief overview of the visual effects process involved in the creation of the short. I used matte paintings and camera projection in Blender to replace the environment in the shot at the end. It was pretty challenging, and took me over a week to finish!
Watch the overview in or on
Check out the rest of the PSA's at and be sure to vote for your favorite!!

Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

Also, I've got a question for you advanced effectsers. One thing I wanted to do was to extend the shot a bit to pull back further, revealing more of the environment, but I didn't have time to experiment. How would you go about doing this - transitioning from the tracked camera move to a fully 3D scene?
