Recent Reel

Howdy mates,

I've just come back from a couple of weeks rest at home in good ol' blighty (England ) and I had a chance to put together a reel. Some of the stuff is a little old (my latest stuff I can't put on a reel until it's been aired) and there is some old stuff that I just didn't have to hand...

Looking at it again I should have called this a 2007 reel as the most recent anim on it was from Oct 2007! Ahh well... you'll just have to trust me and wait for a better one next year

how was your couple weeks off by the way?

Superb, from beginning to end! I would have liked to see more finished renders, though, but I still thoroughly enjoyed every second of that reel. You have me wanting to animate quadrupeds, now.

The music wouldn't play for me, it just plays every few seconds (which is a shame since I love the song : )). I'm on a mac and played it with VLC, which might be the issue. Just a heads up.

wow, great stuff! especially loved the leopard right there in the beginning (or whatever it was). And I agree with Ben, I think this is the first real taste I've gotten of what you do every day at work. Great to see!

@Pete = Thanks for the post man, haven't caught up in a long time - hope life is good!

@Ridey = The two weeks back home were great but just not long enough! I've now got some fantastically adorable nieces and nephews and it was great to spend time with 'em. As for the reel - all the animation is my own, very little modelling though (the pink robot from waaaay back) and hardly any rendering... I stopped rendering stuff when I went on to Maya about 3 years ago!

@Octave = Thanks man - but since I don't do the rendering I prefer using playblasts only.

@mcernusca = Thanks for the heads up... I exported it as a WMV and know next to nothing about codecs and encoding settings ect. Seriously... any tips are welcome!

@Sean = Kind words dude - you post up stuff that blows me away on a regular basis - keep it coming (oh and it's a cheetah btw!)

@T = hehe - man, I'll try and make it a bit more regular like... I'm just not a plugged in anim cg freak like yourself (and I mean that in the best way man!:D) (oh and thanks again for the space)

@Iest = Not my modelling I'm afraid, but I rigged the horse and helped out on the pig, the deer was probably my best rig at the time (there was also an elephant, but the anim was a but too rough to go on the reel). Those are among the oldest stuff on the reel - did them almost two years back now. More recently I put together the cheetah rig - learned a lot about quadrupeds and rigging on that... but now I'm focussed mainly on animation and haven't rigged a thing since February.

nothing less from amazing, but maybe use another format like quicktime so people can easily click and view.

Is there any chance we can see a breakdown so we know what did u exactly do where?
