realistic bird for animation

06 Jan 2006i havent much time lately for my personals project, so here is a work im doing for a movie. this bird will be composite on to a real footage for a movie scene. here is the refference
and here is my model

One thing that stands out to me, is his toes... In the image, it seems like his leg is as thick as his big middle toe... I would suggest beefing up his toes a little... but that's just a nit pick..

!! here is the explanation, first i modeled another bird, the amazona auropalliata, here is my first refference:

i tried shag hair to make the feathers and got excellent results, here are 2 test renders:
after all this progress, i received the news that the type of bird was changed at the time of shooting the scene to the actual modeled bird (amazona ventralis) so i remodeled the bird and re textured it in 2 days.i got rid of the shag hair and used old style feathers modeled with alpha masks for the opacity because of the little time. and here is the final wire:
