i am a fan of intern3D ! you guys really have to check it out. Its not just good a UV layout its basically good for everything you just have to find the right "module" to work with
its very intuitive and easy to work with.
and it works like this:
1.you grab some random interns who just die of boredom and would do anything for somekind of other 3d work except mocap data cleaning (since thats the main work here for interns )

2. you givethem the files and explain what you want for 15 minutes and then you leave for a coffee

3. the next day you take the uv's and give it to to texture artist.

the biggest con is that it sometimes takes a while until you get a good uv map but you just fire it up and dont think about it again..
max 2 days later your UV's are ready
