The grass is just a facing particles (yes, that was possible in ver. 1 too

). And it's really nothing special, just 2 particles system with 2 alpha based differend images (grass and flowers).

Hey, the chalange is a great idea, but I am in dubt that anyone would like to work without shortcuts. It's very hard. Trust me, I lost one hour trying to chamfer boxes.

Yeah... that's the impression of most people. If I would know then, what I know now, maybe I would be on some front pages, but I don't think so. In that time they were also very good artist that have milion times better renders then my Railing.

That render from your pal is incredible! I can't beleave this is software render. Looks so nice and realistic.
Texture and modeling are also awesome, not just lightning. I am very impressed.
At the end, I always like to show to people renders of great artist Will Hammes, that create this images (as far as I know) in 3DS max 1 and 2 and (maybe) 3.
Looks stunning esspecialy in the time that they have been created:
