I like the way it looks, but i'm not sure how much steam punk is in there, to me it looks like a car from Duck Dodgers in the 24˝th Century

30 May 2010Haha this is awesome! Though I agree it's more a characterised 'cartooney' version of what steampunk actually is... but still very appealing. One crit though would be to make a bit more of a difference between the front and back. When I first saw the pic I though I was looking at a duplicate image. I see there is more of a slope to the front of the car, but the silhouette is essentially the same.

but, why it doesn't look "steampunky" ?... coz I thought I've use the steampunk style like steam objects, pipes, copper material and textures ... etc
so ... where is the missing link ??

31 May 2010Dunno to me it looks like an 80-s representation of a future car that happens to be old. The circles dude. Thats 80-s stupid vision of the future
Try to putt gears on the outside like they run things not clean in the inside working like a swiss clock. Add more hard edged pipes, exaust pipes etc. On your model everything is round and cartoony. I hope you understood what i ment to say I like the style of the render and the model if it was some funny car in a cartoon. But its not much seampunky -
31 May 2010The curves and cartoony approach to the design is what takes it away from what 'steampunk' is normally regarded as. Steampunk is generally imagined as an alternate reality where we developed modern technologies but still remained in the 'industrial steam age' (circa Victorian England). Industrial designs with brass and wood yet powered by steam
