as i am looking for a job i am currently renewing my websites and a lot of things along with it... i just finished the demo reel and a new one with more stuff should come around june...
crits are welcome and if there is anything that you saw from mine that should go in there or if anything should go out let me know!

I mean, they all looks really awesome!
Your animation looks very natural, and they all have some common style.
I think you won't having a problem finding a job. -

31 Mar 2009Nice reel Rich! Some pretty awesome shots. All the treecutter stuff is really nice... maybe you should bump that up to the start of the reel (best stuff goes first!
)
One crit though is that the reel doesn't seem to focus on a particular aspect of what you want to do. Not a bad thing if you just want to showcase your stuff - but if you are actively job seeking and it's animation you are wanting to do then you'll want to put just your animation heavy stuff on the reel.

31 Mar 2009Sure - it shows that you have a good understanding of many parts of cg. For example, the layer wipes show an employer that you know how to comp, but I wouldn't expect to see stuff like that on an animation reel. If it's just animation you are after then you'll need to show an understanding of all the principles (ie. timing, spacing etc) and also drop in some nice acting shots. We get some nice reels dropped in to the studio but without at least one dialogue shot it's really hard to know how nice.

Long time not came over here, just in time to put my 2cent on your reel
Looks really nice, but i'm agree with Global, it's more a generalist than a animation reel.
You should also completly reverse the reel, when i'm playing it reversed, i find the clip order perfect

01 Apr 2009Really nice man, what is that guy cuting trees? I would like to see all the movie.
Its not clear to me what you made at the shots , if you made the animation , lightining , concept , or all . Any way, everything is great so whatever you made is really cool. Cheers

04 Apr 2009Dude, you are so NOT going to have any problem getting a job, hahahahaha! Great reel! I see the benefits of having both a specific reel, and a general reel. I'm sure you could put together either.
And yeah, that tree cutter guy needs a short film. Pronto.
