So this is probably the biggest project i've been involved with 3D wise since i started my job last year. i was in charge of everything except animation, character design, and compositing. The modeling, texturing, lighting, rigging, set design, and pipeline managing was me!
The timeline was pretty insane. From the start of the project i already had all the characters and buildings modeled. from that point we had 3 weeks to do the entire spot. first week was rigging / storyboarding. second week was previs / animatic / building breakdown and animation. week 3 was final animation / lighting / everything else that went wrong lol. Week 3 was a good 115 hours from sunday to sunday.
Right after this project finished up i had a good week to relax, and then started a nice little VFX piece. I had one week for this one and this time it was all me except the comping. The CG parts are the wheel, chain, chain sprocket, brake disc, chain guard, and the BG is a post thing. If you could see the footage that was given to us to work with you'd die laughing. This is in a commercial for an insurance company called Upstate Hospital Insurance. in the actual commercial the end gets blown out to white, it's not a hard cut like that.
Hah you might notice that before the chain explodes off it's not really on the sprocket, more just sitting in front of it... One of the things we missed before we shipped
it's nice to take a break from beauty products for a while
