I had in mind using php to create unique files based on session id generated by user profile that is assigned when user clicks on your link, from your site and expires within a day or less. Problem with this, is that it isnt very reliable, and requires a fair amount of host space. Obviously its a bad idea in comparison to what you found, but would have been nifty to do.
