mark, what are you using for your secondary calculations? try a few of them out if you're having issues with the one you're currently using.

I am using Quasi-Monte-Carlo as "secondary bounces" and Irradiance map for "primary bounces". Image sampler is "adaptive subdivision". still facing the same problem, cant rid this noise.

i have some suggestions and links that may help you, first of there is no material applied to the room which will give you incorrect results, if that doesnt help use those links in addition to the tutorials shipped with max on Mental Ray and keep playing around your FG/GI
hope that helps and keep us updated if this works for you.
-
thanks ahmad, i am looking solution in V-ray, because after Mental Ray i am trying to explore V-ray. i have made another animation facing same noise issue in that Vray render too.
following linked video will explain more about moving shadows abstractly and disturbing noisy distortions on object.

messing around with maya...

pretty good looking motion blur
i don't know how it works in maya but its kinda streaking.
-
That looks like 3D motion blur, which is calculated at the time of render, as opposed to 2D motion blur, which is a post-render vector blur. 2D is a lot faster but not as accurate and can't be used for deformation or rotation (like here). 3D is accurate but very slow and prone to artifacts. You need to increase your samples to fix that, but you're also increasing your render times considerably

is there a file format that contains velocity information in maya?
-
ALi 608 posts
I think you can do that with a little mel script. but if you're using dynamics, then it could be a more complicated.

3dsmax can output rpf files which contain velocity and camera data, very useful for motion blur.
reelsmart motionblur is awesome for this stuff.

Thought that I would give some input here from me. Recently played little bit with Terragen. Here is my work I did there for purposes of training. Sort of some Vey Mountain Valley on some distant planet who may, judging by presence of water, and also may not host live beings. I added to this image few additional strokes in Gimp. I was amazed by what Terragen is capable of, really amazed.

My next little input here.
This image is one of my first tries of 3dsmax new iray renderer. What I like in iray is how easy you can setup the light without any worry of FG or GI. No need to fine tune lots of parameters to get decent image. I liked it to be honest.
Work on robot model is in progress.
